How RssDrop works

Everything you need to get the most out of your feeds — from adding sources to automating delivery to Discord, Slack, and your inbox.

Supported feed types

RssDrop supports 8 source types. Paste any URL — it figures out the feed for you.

Any Website

Paste any blog, news site, or publication URL. RssDrop detects the RSS or Atom feed automatically — no manual feed link needed.

techcrunch.comtheverge.comyourfavoriteblog.com

Tip:Works with most modern sites. If auto-detection fails, try pasting the direct RSS URL (usually at /feed or /rss).

YouTube

Paste a YouTube channel URL, @handle, or playlist link. RssDrop converts it into a feed that updates whenever the channel posts a new video.

Tip:YouTube RSS feeds include the video title, thumbnail, and description — no API key required.

Reddit

Follow any subreddit or Reddit user as a feed. Paste the Reddit URL and RssDrop converts it to an RSS stream.

reddit.com/r/technologyreddit.com/r/startupsreddit.com/user/username

Tip:RssDrop routes Reddit requests through old.reddit.com to avoid 403 blocks — it just works.

Substack

Follow any Substack newsletter as a feed. Paste the Substack URL and new issues appear in your reader automatically.

Tip:Free Substack posts come through in full. Paid posts show a preview with a link to read the rest.

Pinterest

Follow any Pinterest profile or board as a feed. Paste the Pinterest URL and RssDrop resolves the correct RSS endpoint.

Tip:Works for both profiles and individual boards.

Google News

Search Google News by topic or keyword directly from the Add Feed form. RssDrop creates a live feed that updates with the latest matching stories.

Search: "AI tools"Search: "startup funding"Google News topic pages

Tip:Use quotes in your search to get more precise results.

GitHub

Follow GitHub repositories, user activity, or releases as a feed. Stay updated on new commits, issues, and releases.

Tip:GitHub has native Atom feeds for repos, users, and release pages — RssDrop picks these up automatically.

Direct RSS / Atom

Paste any direct RSS or Atom feed URL. If you already have the feed link, RssDrop subscribes to it instantly.

Tip:Most feed readers and CMS platforms (WordPress, Ghost, Beehiiv) expose a feed at /feed or /rss.

Bundles

Group related feeds into named collections. Great for separating topics — Work, Crypto, Design, News — or sharing a curated set with others.

How to create a bundle

  1. 1Go to Dashboard → Bundles
  2. 2Click "New Bundle" and give it a name (e.g. "Morning News" or "Tech Reads")
  3. 3Add feeds to the bundle from your existing subscriptions
  4. 4Use the bundle anywhere — attach it to a bot, send it as a digest, or browse it as a group

Good bundle ideas

  • Morning briefing — top news sources
  • Work feeds — industry blogs and publications
  • Social — Reddit subs + YouTube channels
  • Research — GitHub repos + academic blogs

What bundles unlock

  • Send a digest from a specific bundle
  • Point a bot at a bundle instead of a single feed
  • Share a bundle link publicly
  • See composition — what feed types are inside

AI Digests

A digest is a curated email newsletter generated from your feeds. RssDrop uses AI to summarise articles, pull out the key points, and send it to your inbox — no reading required.

How it works

1
Choose your scopeGenerate a digest from all your feeds, a specific bundle, or a single feed.
2
Pick an AI providerOpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), DeepSeek, or DeepInfra — all produce similar results. Anthropic is fast and affordable.
3
Preview before sendingRssDrop shows you a three-tier layout (Hero story, medium stories, brief mentions) before the email goes out.
4
Send to your inboxClick Send and the digest arrives formatted as a clean email newsletter.

What the AI does

For each article, the AI writes a 2–3 sentence summary and extracts bullet-point takeaways. It also identifies 3–5 themes across your digest so you get a sense of what the news cycle is focused on. You get the signal — without reading 20 tabs.

Hero

Top story — full summary + image

Medium

Next 3 stories — summary + bullets

Brief

Remaining — title + one-line summary

Bot integrations

Connect a feed or bundle to Discord, Slack, or Telegram. Every time a new post appears, RssDrop automatically sends it to your channel — no manual checking required.

Discord

Post new articles to any Discord channel via a webhook. Works in servers, DMs, and private channels.

Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks

Slack

Send feed updates to any Slack channel or workspace. Uses Slack's incoming webhooks.

Apps → Incoming Webhooks → Add to Slack

Telegram

Deliver posts to a Telegram channel or group bot. Set up a bot via BotFather and paste the webhook.

BotFather → /newbot → get token

Setting up a bot

  1. 1Go to Dashboard → Bots → New Bot
  2. 2Choose a platform (Discord, Slack, or Telegram)
  3. 3Paste your webhook URL from the platform
  4. 4Attach it to a feed or bundle
  5. 5Toggle the bot on — new posts will be delivered automatically

What gets posted

Each bot message includes the article title, source name, a short description, and a direct link to the article. Discord and Slack render link previews automatically. You can attach one bot per feed or per bundle — attaching to a bundle means one bot covers all feeds inside it.
